How do we create meaningful change? Should we focus on transforming the systems and institutions around us? Or is it better to inspire individuals to change their habits? Maybe it’s both?

Join us to celebrate the launch of Somebody Should Do Something: How Anyone Can Help Create Social Change (MIT Press). Co-author and philosopher Daniel Kelly and a panel of changemakers will dive into the book's ideas and share their own. They’ll also explore the challenges and backlash that often follow social movements, and offer insights on how we might overcome these hurdles.

If you’re passionate about climate action, social justice, or any movement for progress, this event is for you. Expect thought-provoking discussions, fresh perspectives, and plenty of opportunities to engage and share your own ideas for creating a better future.

Afterwards, we’ll host a wine reception where you can continue the conversation.

Don’t miss out—come be part of the conversation and help us shape the future of social change!

Here’s the lineup:

Daniel Kelly, Philosopher at Purdue University (USA)

Asya Passinsky, Philosopher at Central European University (Austria)

Cesy Leonard, Artist, Speaker and Founder of Radikale Töchter (Germany)

Martin Russ, Managing Director at AustriaTech (Austria)

With moderation by Eric Frey, Senior Editor at Der Standard (Austria)

Häufige Fragen

Where exactly is the venue?

The Brotfabrik is at Absberggasse 27 in the 10th district. The Ankersaal is on the 3rd floor (elevator access is available) -- there will be signs to guide you.

How do I get to the venue (with public transit)?

The Brotfabrik is a short walk (5 minutes or less) from tram lines D (Absberggasse) and 6 (Schrankenberggasse).

Is 1,5 hours really enough time for such a big topic?

Yes -- and no! The speakers will share their thoughts for the first portion of the event & then the audience will get to share their questions and thoughts as well. We may not be able to cover everything, but the conversation can continue over a glass of wine during the reception afterwards.

Can I park at the venue?

We would recommend parking at the Garage Reumannplatz, which is about a 15 minute walk from the Brotfabrik.

I have a question. Who do I contact?

Please write to kic [at] ceu [dot] edu.
